Description:
American Dream consists of three related sculptural statements derived from the Declaration of Independence. In "Quotation" the most famous pronouncement from the Declaration is scanned and magnified up to 500 times from a photographic source of the original document, and illuminated in neon to sweep the upper walls of the Arrivals Hall. The next part titled "Signature Piece" contains 56 enlarged signatures, sandblasted onto a 90-foot wall of glass. Lastly, "Declaration" is the entire Declaration of Independence magnified, scanned and photographically etched onto thirteen panels of illuminated stained glass. Collectively these three parts reveal the contents of the writing that created this nation and the visual delight of carefully replicated calligraphy as artwork with a true authentic quality.
