This bronze sculpture originally topped the headquarters of the Society of the Sons of Saint George. The sculpture was relocated to its current site on Martin Luther King Drive (formerly West River Drive) in 1975 for the Bicentennial. The sculpture depicts a scene from the tale of Saint George and the Dragon. Saint George wears a Roman centurion helmet and rides a horse bareback as he spears and defeats the dragon. The artwork was a gift to the City of Philadelphia.
