Description:
Thomas Fitzsimons (1741-1811) was a signer of the Constitution of the United States, and a member of the Continental Congress. Born in Ireland, Fitzsimons came to Philadelphia around 1760 and stayed until his death. For this memorial, Sculptor Giuseppe Donato depicted Fitzsimons standing with a quill in his right hand. The artwork was received as a gift from the Society of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick.
